Pollinators and Organic Agriculture with Briann Dorin
Pollinators play a critical role in food production, both through crop pollination and by supporting healthy, resilient agroecosystems. This session will introduce the main pollinating species in Ontario, explain how they contribute to agricultural production, and share practical, on-farm strategies for supporting pollinators on working lands. Drawing on current research, including her own, Briann will highlight how organic practices can benefit pollinator health. She will guide participants toward useful educational, technical, and financial resources designed to help producers and gardeners incorporate pollinator-friendly management into their operations.
Briann Dorin is a Postdoctoral Researcher at York University who works at the intersection of sustainable farming and pollinator health. Her research focuses on identifying practical, farm-relevant approaches that support pollinators while fitting within real-world management decisions.
